Is this an a photo taken in Beirut? No it is not.

A friend of mine was visiting Berlin and he saw this advertisement and was kind enough to send me the photo (thanks Dan!). The design is quite ok and I’m impressed by the overall quality of typography. On a type design level, not much new to report. Still, this looks good!

Hi, scene you are in Berlin and you know more about linotype, is there a 2nd arabic type design contest coming on way?

for the post, isn’t weird to see arabic stuff in Berlin? i thought most arab communities stays over Bavaria and around..

Hi,
Actually I work at Linotype and I don’t live in Berlin though it is such a great city. I guess it is weird to have Arabic on billboards there. A bit surrealistic…

ok, i know that you’re working at Linotype.. just i want to hear some secrets around the contest.. is their another one, its still alive?

BTW, you have a great blog ;)

This billboard is a bit of an anomaly, even for Berlin. In fact, it is a member of a three-part campaign, the other two billboards being in Turkish and German, respectively. Each of the other two billboards features its own (ethnic) female model, neither of which look as laid back or serious or even groomed as the presumably Arab gentleman seen above.
