The more I dig into our past, the more I realize what a great culture we once had. In a world where we are simply labeled as ignorant terrorists, it is heart warming to pour into books and to realize that it wasn’t always like this. Yesterday I came across this name: Al-Kindi. I had heard of him but was not so sure what he had contributed. Well, it turns out that the world owes him a great deal. To name 2 out of many: he pioneered the field of crypto-analysis through the realization that Arabic had characteristic letter frequency that could be used to break ciphers, and he was also responsible for the dissemination of Hindi numerals into Arab and later European mathematics. What a great mind!

ps. The Latnized version of his name is Alkindus.
